Campo de Calatrava, wines from the land of volcanoes. Wineries Anhelo. Moral of Calatrava

With more than 5000 square kilometers and 240 distinct volcanic buildings, Campo de Calatrava is the largest volcanic area on the peninsula. From their land, high quality products are born, and what is more important, with a unique personality.

A maar is a wide and low crater, produced by an explosion of underground water in contact with lava. Generally these craters are filled with water, forming volcanic or crater lagoons. In Campo de Calatrava there are a lot, and the crops are next to them. The biodiversity and richness of its soil, with a high mineral content, brings uniqueness to each product that comes out of this land.

The vine is impregnated with the characteristics of its environment, nourished by its minerals, hydrated with water, light gives the vine life and temperature makes it sprout. Working the plant with love assures the quality of its fruit and the first step for an excellent wine. In Campo de Calatrava the viticultural tradition is lost in time, allowing an optimal adaptation of this crop to its environment.

The continental Mediterranean climate, with cold winters and sunny summers, help to achieve excellent maturation and good acidity. Getting fresh wines, but at the same time, tasty and persistent.

The work of our winemaker, in Bodegas Anhelo, is to ensure that all this picture of volcanoes, climate and tradition is enclosed within each bottle. Our uniqueness, in addition to the environment, is reflected in the cultivation of varieties such as riesling or bobal, whose adaptation has been magnificent. The final result is well-made and different wines, which we encourage you to try.
